• Grief, aftercare, and the censorship of death

  

  I find myself censoring myself a lot when talking about grief and loss regarding my animals. I delete “Sorrel died” in texts to replace it with things like “Sorrel passed away” and “Sorrel was laid to rest”. Why do we, culturally, want to distance ourselves from death so badly?
